Remember when you were young and were taught that smoking cigarettes was bad for your health. Studies have shown the damage that smoking causes on those who have smoked for a long period of time. Not only is it dangerous to smoke but second hand smoke can be dangerous as well. Aside from giving one bad breath and costing a fortune, why do we still continue with this horrible habit? If you are ready to quit for good here are a few tips on how to quit smoking cigarettes.

1.) First you need to find out when it is that you are more apt to smoke. Are you a morning coffee smoker or a before bed smoker or both? If you know when and where to expect the cravings they will be that much easier to dismiss.

2.) Fight the urge to smoke and stay away from situations or areas where you used to smoke. If you are a morning coffee smoker limit the number of cups you have or drink it where smoking isn’t allowed.

3.) Get rid of all cigarettes, lighters, matches, ashtrays, etc. You may be tempted to keep one or two for “just in case” but don’t! Keeping them will cause a relapse faster than you can hide them away.

4.) Look towards the future and imagine life as an ex-smoker. Know you will feel healthier, breathe easier, and smell better too. Give yourself encouragement and let your friends and family know you have quit smoking and ask that they don’t light up in your presence.
